Implementation Manager
Overview
The chemical industry is a $5.2 trillion market that powers 96% of all manufactured goods, from everyday items to advanced technologies. Yet most chemical distributors still operate with outdated software, manual processes, and disconnected systems that waste time and limit growth.
ShelfCycle is changing that. We're the modern operating system for chemical distribution - an AI-native ERP and CRM platform that automates daily operations so teams can focus on strategic growth instead of manual tasks.
Our customers are seeing transformational results:
- U.S. Chemicals saves 7-10 hours per week per employee through automation
- ClearEdge Solutions consolidated five different systems into one seamless platform
- Dozens of other companies are scaling operations without adding headcount, making faster decisions with real-time data, and focusing on strategic initiatives instead of manual processes
We're modernizing an industry. Our platform handles everything from inventory optimization and order processing to financial reporting and customer relationships, all powered by AI that learns from each distributor's unique data.
Ready to help transform a $5.2 trillion industry? Let's build the future of chemical distribution together.
Job Description
We're looking for a technical Implementation Manager to lead and scale our customer onboarding and implementation function. This is a foundational role responsible for turning complex customer transitions into smooth, confidence-inspiring projects. You will establish the playbook, define tooling, and shape the end-to-end experience that guides customers from their contract signature through their first closed financial month in ShelfCycle.
You'll partner directly with our founder, Michael Harrison, to build a world-class implementation program - one that balances technical understanding, project discipline, and relationship management. Ideal candidates are comfortable owning projects with the command of a management consultant and have some hands-on software implementation experience. Ultimately, you must be motivated by the opportunity to help people in industrial systems transform their work with powerful, purpose-built software.
Responsibilities
- Own the Implementation Lifecycle: Lead all aspects of onboarding from sales handoff through activation, ensuring customers transition efficiently from legacy systems to ShelfCycle's platform.
- Establish and Optimize Processes: Build our implementation playbook from the ground up, designing workflows, templates, and standards that can scale.
- Tooling & Systems: Implement and manage our customer-facing project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Asana, Monday, or similar) to track progress, dependencies, and customer milestones.
- Data & Technical Enablement: Support customers through data migration, normalization, and validation processes; liaise with engineering to resolve configuration and feature-related needs.
- Customer Communication & Confidence: Serve as the primary contact during onboarding, providing clear timelines, structured project plans, and proactive updates to keep customers confident and engaged.
- AI Transformation & Automation: Partner with leadership to identify and embed AI tools and workflows that streamline implementation and customer delivery.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Sales, Product, and Engineering to ensure onboarding blockers are removed and customer feedback informs product priorities.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software implementation, project management, or management consulting
- Startup experience or comfort with fast-moving, ambiguous environments
- Proven ability to lead customer-facing projects with both technical and business stakeholders
- Some accounting background is highly preferred
- Technical skills like Python scripting, manipulating SQL databases, or knowledge of an ETL process would be a massive plus
- Familiarity with ERP, financial, or data-heavy system implementations preferred
- High level of organization, clarity, and follow-through in managing complex customer projects
- Comfort working closely with technical teams, including engineers and data analysts
- Experience implementing or administering project management tools (e.g. Asana, Monday)
- A growing passion for AI, continually experimenting with new AI use-cases for individual productivity and customer outcomes
- Elite interpersonal and communication skills, including composure and confidence in customer-facing moments
Additional Details
- Location: New York City (preferred) with 2 days a week in-office at our Bryant Park HQ
- Travel: Occasional customer visits approximately once every 6-8 weeks
- Compensation: Meaningful equity + OTE ranging from $130,000-$180,000 commensurate with experience and equity participation.
